Peak Oil Planning - A Graphic Essay

by Bryn Davidson (rao-D cityworks)

As an architect/engineer and student of all things sustainable I am at once fascinated and terrified by the implication of peak oil. The sheer scope of the problem, its social and technical complexity, and its growing urgency have compelled me to coalesce a set of ideas in graphic form to push the dialogue.

The resulting PowerPoint presentation has been less of a presentation aid and more of a tool for framing and honing ideas. The presentation is available for download in PPS or PPT format (~4.5mb) here:

NEWS FLASH! (May 25)

I've converted the presentation to Flash and posted it to the website at:
www.e-design.squarespace.com/pop-files/

The file is 'peaking presentation(flash).swf'

This file is a tad chubby at 22mb, but should be readable by most computers.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Editorial Notes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A very elegant presentation of many complex ideas.
This slideshow was prepared for the proposed Vancouver Peak-Oil Planning Symposium.
The Microsoft-phobic EB editors were not able to open the files with our PowerPoint clones (StarOffice and OpenOffice). Bryn suggested downloading a PowerPoint viewer from www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00153.htm . Both the PPS and PPT files were viewable with the downloaded viewer.
